WWE Star Rules Out Roman Reigns Rematch: “I Don’t Think The Fans Would Like It”

Roman Reigns

Kevin Owens explained why a rematch with Roman Reigns isn’t in his current plans.

Owens has been at odds with The Bloodline for years, but despite multiple singles bouts against Reigns, he’s been unsuccessful at dethroning the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Recent reports indicate that contrary to expectation, Roman Reigns is not headed for a rematch with LA Knight at the upcoming Royal Rumble in Tampa, FL, and some fans wonder if Owens might get another chance.

However, speaking in a new interview with James Williams, Owens explained that he doesn’t have his sights set on a rematch any time soon as he believes fans would like to see another challenger step up.

“I’ll be honest — maybe a little too honest. I don’t think the fans would like that [a rematch], because I’ve had my shot at Roman Reigns many, many times. For one reason or another, it didn’t work out. I almost don’t want to even try, because I don’t think that’s what fans want. They’ve seen it. I’m here for the fans. I want people to enjoy what I’m doing. So, as much as I wish I could be champion and go for the title again, I don’t think it’s right. So, it’s not in my plans.”

Randy Orton Called Out Roman Reigns On SmackDown

Survivor Series on November 25th saw Randy Orton return to WWE, and on the December 1st episode of SmackDown, he wasted no time in calling out and attacking The Bloodline. Not only did he issue a challenge to Roman Reigns, he also signed a SmackDown contract, officially joining the blue brand.

It remains to be seen whether Orton is Reigns’ opponent at the Royal Rumble, but according to a recent report from Fightful Select, Orton is expected to work with The Bloodline going forward.
