On Wednesday’s special edition of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega defeated Jon Moxley to capture the AEW World Heavyweight Championship thanks to interference from IMPACT Wrestling ‘Co-Executive Vice President’ Don Callis.
During the immediate aftermath of the match, Don Callis revealed that the new AEW World Champion would be appearing on IMPACT Wrestling next Tuesday night to explain his actions.
Callis provided Omega with the foreign object that ultimately allowed him to strike down Moxley and capture the most prestigious prize in AEW, the AEW World Championship. Both Callis and Omega immediately fled the Daily’s Place Amphitheater to a chorus of boos from fans, AEW talent and even Tony Khan himself.
Before Omega and Callis could escape Jacksonville, Alex Marvez caught up with the pair to ask for an explanation of their actions and to find out why Callis got involved. When questioned on the matter, Callis responded:
“You’ll have to find out this Tuesday night! This Tuesday, IMPACT Wrestling on AXS TV, me and Kenny will tell you all about it, Marvez!”.
In the aftermath of the show, Callis took to social media to deny claims that he had screwed Moxley instead insisting that AEW screwed AEW.

Kenny Omega has come close to appearing in IMPACT Wrestling [formerly TNA] before, with management keen to sign the then 21-year-old following an impressive showing against Petey Williams for the X-Division Championship at the National Wrestling Alliance’s 56th Anniversary Show on October 17th, 2004.
Don Callis recently went as far as to say that if AEW did not exist, Kenny Omega would be in IMPACT Wrestling.
“I’ll say this: If AEW had not come into play … Kenny Omega would have come into Impact Wrestling. Not that he ever agreed to it, but it’s something that Scott D’Amore and I would have made happen.”
The former ‘Cyrus’ and Kenny Omega share a storied history with Omega’s Uncle ‘The Golden Sheik’ training and managing Callis in the late 1980’s. Additionally, Omega was responsible for the former WCW and ECW performer being brought in to NJPW in 2015 for a special commentary role in Omega’s marquee match against former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12.

It is unclear at this time what the true nature of the relationship between IMPACT Wrestling and AEW is, however, Omega’s appearance signals a shift in AEW contracting – with ‘The Cleaner’ being the first AEW contracted performer to appear on a localised rival network show since AEW’s network debut in 2019.
