Original Paul Wight Plans For AEW All In

Paul Wight

Paul Wight may be back in the ring soon, but his in-ring return was originally planned for AEW All In.

Since signing with All Elite Wrestling, the former Big Show has served mostly in a broadcast role. He’s had a handful of matches on the now-defunct Dark Elevation, and at the 2021 edition of AEW All Out, he defeated QT Marshall in singles action.

His most recent bout came on the April 4th edition of Dark Elevation, where he handily defeated Austin Green.

Wight was in attendance for AEW’s wildly successful edition of All In on August 27th, and during the Zero Hour pre-show, he accompanied Grado and Anthony Ogogo in attacking Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt. Wight delivered a WMD to Singh and then hit a massive chokeslam on Lethal.

According to a recent report from Fightful Select, however, original plans called for Wight to return to in-ring action in a match that would involve fellow giant Satnam Singh. Those plans obviously didn’t come to fruition and the attack angle was done instead.

When Will Paul Wight Wrestle Again In AEW?

In the same report, Fightful Select notes that there are plans in place for Wight to return to the ring at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view on November 18th.

On the October 25th episode of Dynamite, a backstage segment showed Chris Jericho speaking about his recent shock loss to Powerhouse Hobbs. Not only did Hobbs pick up the victory over Le Champion, he did it in quick fashion, establishing his dominance as a force to be reckoned with on the roster.

Jericho said that while Hobbs is big, he knows of someone even bigger. According to Fightful Select, the current working plan is for Paul Wight to work some sort of match at Full Gear, and it stands to reason that Hobbs could also be involved.

Set to return to action in an 8-man Street Fight, Paul Wight has admitted that he had to adjust his expectations.
