It was the AEW Dynamite debut of Adam Copeland on the four-year anniversary of Dynamite, plus Rey Fenix vs. Nick Jackson for the International Title.

This episode took place at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California. The announcers were Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega were interviewed backstage by Renee Paquette. Adam Copeland walked up to them. Omega told Adam “you really had me at the edge of my seat” so there’s the Edge reference.

Match #1: Rey Fenix beat Nick Jackson to retain the International Championship. Lots of nearfalls for both guys. Nick went for a pin, but Fenix countered and sat on top for the pinfall win.

A video package aired about Adam Cole hanging out with Roderick Strong and The Kingdom. Strong had a neckbrace on at his house and was in a wheelchair. Cole has a broken foot and needs surgery. The audio wasn’t working right during the segment. Anyway, Cole helped Strong move stuff around the house.

Match #2: Wardlow beat Griff Garrison. Wardlow hit him with four Powerbombs, Griff was knocked out and referee Paul Turner stopped the match. Wardlow left through the crowd.

They replayed the Adam Cole/Roderick Strong segment with The Kingdom that aired earlier due to the technical difficulties earlier. This time, the audio was fine.

Match #3: The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) and Billy Gunn vs. Kip Sabian, The Butcher & The Blade. Easy win for The Acclaimed & Gunn.

Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson & The Gunns did a promo ripping on AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman aka MJF for attacking Jay Whilte last week. MJF arrived to say he didn’t have anything to do with it. MJF tried to fight them in the ring, but Jay White (also of Bullet Club Gold) attacked Max from behind. White hit the Bladerunner neckbreaker on MJF. White challenged MJF to a World Title match at Full Gear on November 18 and MJF accepted.

Match #4: Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega defeated Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher. Sammy Guevera was going to be Takeshita’s partner, but Sammy wasn’t cleared to compete. Jericho hit Fletcher with a Codebreaker and Omega hit Fletcher with a One Winged Angel for the pinfall win.

After the match, Powerhouse Hobbs attacked Omega and Jericho with a double clothesline. Hobbs, Takeshita and Callis beat up Omega and Jericho for about five minutes. Nobody tried to help Omega & Jericho with the announcers saying Nick & Matt Jackson were at the hospital due to Nick’s foot and Adam Page wasn’t there. Hobbs, Takeshita & Callis tied up Omega to the top rope and beat him. Callis hit Omega with a chair to the head. It was implied that Hobbs has joined the Don Callis Family after that.

Match #5: “Timeless” Toni Storm beat Skye Blue by pinfall with the Storm Zero.

Adam Copeland did a main event interview. Tony Schiavone was there to interview him, but Adam told him to leave. Adam spoke about reasons for coming to AEW and how there were a lot of potential first time matches against Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Miro, Powerhouse Hobbs, Jay White, Juice Robinson…and others. Adam said he talked to his kids about his decision with his oldest daughter saying “go have fun with Uncle Jay” referring to Christian Cage.

Adam called out Christian Cage, the TNT Champion. Adam said that for 40 years, they have been best friends. Adam said that this industry made them realize they would be best friends for life. Adam told Christian he still loved him. Adam talked about how Christian idolized Sting he was beating him up while Adam said they would act like they were Sting & Lex Luger together. Adam said it’s time for them to reunite as a tag team.

Adam said that for the first time since 2011, for the first time properly in over 20 years, it’s time for them to team together. Adam wanted to face a team like FTR, The Young Bucks and show an entire generation of fans why they are inarguably one of the greatest tag teams of all time. Adam said he wanted to end their careers together as a team. Adam wanted to show the fans what they can do. The fans chanted “one more time’ as Christian looked around. “Go F**k Yourself.” It was muted in many places.

Christian went up the ramp alone and brought out Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne to stare at Adam in the ring. That’s because Adam Copeland faces Luchasaurus next week on AEW Dynamite. A long-distance staredown ended the show.

Dynamite ended at 10:08 p.m. ET so there was an eight-minute overrun this week.
