Billy Corgan "Couldn't Pay" What CM Punk Is Worth To Appear In NWA

CM Punk cuts a promo on AEW Collision

NWA owner Billy Corgan has admitted he wouldn’t be able to pay what CM Punk is worth for an NWA appearance.

Speaking to Andrew Zarian on the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Corgan gave his thoughts on a potential CM Punk appearance in NWA. The Smashing Pumpkins lead made an appeal to Punk that if he wanted to have some fun, they could make an NWA appearance happen but he “can’t pay you what you’re worth.”

“That man loves professional wrestling. He may not love the professional wrestling business, but he loves professional wrestling. My only appeal to Punk would be, if you want to have some fun, I can’t pay you what you’re worth, but if you want to have some fun, come have some fun in the NWA. We’ll kick some ass, we’ll have some laughs, and I’ll buy you a vegan sandwich.”

WWE Producing TV Docuseries On NIL Athletes

WWE-NIL Graphic

WWE is said to be producing a television docuseries on the development of the athletes in its Next In Line program.

Sports Business Journal reported the development, noting that the show will be called ‘Superstars Of Tomorrow’ and will “follow participants in WWE’s new NIL program”. No further details were provided on the content of the show nor when or where it will be avaliable.

The most notable name to come from the NIL program is former Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson who made his WWE debut at NXT The Great American Bash back in July. Steveson has not appeared on NXT since, however, and was reportedly removed from the black and gold brand’s roster last month.

WWE currently has another TV program in the works called ‘The Crawfords’, a reality show starring Bianca Belair and Montez Ford which will be avaliable via Hulu. Belair gave an update on the show last month amidst her WWE hiatus, revealing that it is likely to air either at the end of this year or early next year.

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho Praises Billy Corgan For Rebuilding NWA

Chris Jericho AEW Dynamite entrance

Chris Jericho has praised Billy Corgan for the “fairly good job” he’s done in rebuilding the NWA.

During a recent appearance on The Allison Hagendorf Show, Jericho praised Corgan for his work in the NWA and compared Corgan’s “passion project” work ethic for NWA to his own passion for his band Fozzy.

“He owns the NWA, he’s done a fairly good job of building that company up. I like talking to Billy because he’s probably the only guy, there are a couple of others, but at the highest of levels, that has done this and understands the sacrifice of both.

He does the Pumpkins whenever he wants and I do wrestling whenever I want, but I think the passion project is NWA and the passion project is Fozzy, and to see both of them grow is gratifying.

Billy, a very smart guy, very fun to talk to, very much an original, unique. Not a pat on the back, but, ‘good for him’ when I heard he bought that company because I know he has such a passion for wrestling. If you do, then go for it. Make it happen.”

Cody Rhodes is set for his first singles match on a Premium Live Event since defeating Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

During last night’s episode of Raw, it was made official that The American Nightmare will face Damian Priest at WWE Crown Jewel next month. This marks Cody’s sixth singles match to take place on a Premium Live Event in 2023. Rhodes unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39’s second night before going on to win a trilogy of bouts with Brock Lesnar across Backlash, Night of Champions, and SummerSlam. He also defeated Dominik Mysterio at Money In The Bank this past July.

The former WWE coach, real name Scott Garland, announced the news during an appearance on the Wrestling With Johners podcast, revealing that he has been working with the company as a coach and producer behind the scenes. Scotty 2 Hotty was reported to be undergoing a tryout for the position back in July.

Garland went on to hint that he will be working in the position full-time starting next year should everything go to plan.

“I don’t think it’s a huge secret that I’ve been working for AEW as a producer behind the scenes, as a coach and producer there. I have an opportunity to do more with them, on a regular basis.

It looks like at the beginning of the year, I’ll be going pretty hard with them if everything works out the way I hope it does.”

The Rock

Check Out The Rock's Last WWE Match IN FULL!

WWE has uploaded The Rock’s last WWE match in its entirety to their YouTube channel.

With rumors swirling about the possibility of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson returning to the ring at WrestleMania 40 to face Roman Reigns, WWE has added fuel to the fire by making The Great One’s last WWE match available for free in full on YouTube.

At WrestleMania 32 back in 2016, The Rock competed in his last WWE match where he defeated Erick Rowan in just six seconds. The match was the result of a confrontation between Johnson and the leader of Bray Wyatt at the event.

After the bout, the Wyatt Family attempted to overwhelm The Rock with their numbers advantage only to be thwarted by John Cena who evened the odds and helped his old rival fight off the faction.

WWE Is "Very Interested" In Signing Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay making his entrance at AEW WrestleDream alongside Sammy Guevara

WWE is said to be “very interested” in signing Will Ospreay when the NJPW star becomes a free agent early next year!

In a recent interview, the IWGP United Kingdom Champion hit out at Seth Rollins over the long history of social media barbs – suggesting the possibility that he could face the current World Heavyweight Champion in WWE as his future remains uncertain.

Now, a new report has claimed that Will Ospreay making a move to WWE isn’t out of the realm of possibility. During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE is extremely interested in the 30-year-old and that the company will be “after him” when his New Japan contract expires next February.

“I know WWE is absolutely after him and he is absolutely going to listen to WWE.

“WWE is very, very interested in him. Everyone is, and they should be.”

Ring of Honor

AEW Experimenting With New ROH Final Battle Strategy

The official poster graphic for ROH Final Battle 2023

AEW is using a brand-new strategy for ROH Final Battle this December as an “experiment.”

Yesterday, the Ring of Honor X account announced that their next major event, Final Battle on December 15th, will be available exclusively via their HonorClub subscription service. This is a break from the norm for the promotion as every ROH pay-per-view since Tony Khan’s acquisition of the promotion has been available via pay-per-view.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed the move is an experiment by AEW to see if the strategy drives more subscribers to the Honor Club service. This isn’t the main reason for the move, however, as the company plans to hold an AEW pay-per-view in late-December.

“I believe there’s a pay-per-view on [December] 30th. It might be the 29th. But there’s gonna be one at the end. So the Ring of Honor [show] will not be on [pay-per-view].

It won’t be on Bleacher Report, it won’t be available on television, it won’t be available on PPV.com, won’t be available on YouTube, won’t be available anywhere, except for on Honor Club, it will not be an extra charge for Honor Club. The Ring of Honor subscription will include the pay-per-view. So basically, the idea is for pay-per-views there to drive subscriptions to Honor Club as an experiment.”

WWE Hall Of Famer's Son Confirms AEW Departure

Arn Anderson (left) and Brock Anderson (right) on the stage during AEW Collision

Brock Anderson, the son of the legendary Arn Anderson, has confirmed his departure from AEW.

This past weekend, it was reported that Anderson had left AEW after more than two years with the company following the expiry of his contract. An internal email is said to have been sent out on Friday confirming the 26-year-old’s departure.

Now, Anderson himself has confirmed the news in a series of posts to his X account. In the first, he shared several photos from his time with the company whilst thanking both his supporters and detractors and sharing a quote from Dustin Rhodes. He went on to share even more photos in a second post with the caption, “On to the next one.”

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre Has Yet To Re-Sign With WWE

Drew McIntyre in the ring at WWE Clash At The Castle

Drew McIntyre‘s WWE deal is said to be up next year and the former WWE Champion has not yet re-signed with the company!

During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided the latest update on McIntyre’s contract status ahead of his World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel.

Meltzer reported that McIntyre has yet to re-sign with WWE despite his huge title opportunity next month. However, it is said that he isn’t looking to leave the company and is simply trying to negotiate for a better financial number in his next WWE deal.

I could check. But I do not believe he’s re-signed. […] But the point is, he’s got plenty of time. It’s not like, you know, you can’t have him win because he’s gonna be gone in a month and he hasn’t re-signed his deal. And, you know, it’s just, again, I mean, it’s basically a numbers game.

I mean, it’s not like he’s a guy who’s looking to leave. It’s just a numbers game. I mean, he wants a certain number and they did not offer that certain number and they may meet in the middle or they may not meet in the middle and he may go home. I don’t know where he may go, you know, of course he could go to AEW, anything’s possible.
