Will Ospreay Could Become The Face Of Upcoming WWE Brand

Should Will Ospreay sign with WWE next year, a potential plan for The Assassin could see him become the face of a new WWE brand!

Will Ospreay’s future is uncertain as his New Japan Pro-Wrestling contract is set to expire in just a few months’ time. The 30-year-old has previously stated he is in negotiations with NJPW but there is said to be interest in him from almost every major promotion.

One potential landing point for the current IWGP United Kingdom Champion is WWE. Will Ospreay recently called out Seth Rollins when asked about the possibility of a WWE move, but if a new report is to be believed, one of the company’s ideas would keep him far away from the World Heavyweight Champion.

Speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that one idea that WWE has for Ospreay is to build the revival of NXT Europe around him. Meltzer also noted that the company now has the greenlight from Endeavor to revive the brand formerly known as NXT UK.

“One idea that was thrown at me was the idea of NXT Europe built around Will Ospreay. The revival of NXT Europe starts that thing of what happened with the original NXT UK and its effect on the independent scene in England – really hurt it badly.

But, at the same time, they didn’t run regular shows or anything like that they just did TV tapings. So you just don’t know. They’ve got the go-ahead from Endeavor to do it, but you just don’t know exactly what that entails.”

On November 4th, Will Ospreay and Seth Rollins had another social media interaction, this time with Rollins inviting the Commonwealth Kingpin to join him in WWE.

Will Ospreay Recently Broke An 18-Year Record

On top of making his return to IMPACT Wrestling at Bound For Glory earlier this month, Will Ospreay broke an 18-year record for the promotion!

Ospreay’s match with ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey at the event was awarded five and a quarter stars by Dave Meltzer. This marked the first IMPACT match in 18 years to be rated five stars or higher by Meltzer as well as only the second five-star or higher match the promotion has ever been awarded!
