Will Ospreay has added fuel to speculation that he could be WWE-bound.
On November 4th at NJPW Power Struggle, the Aerial Assassin went to war with rising star Shota Umino over the IWGP United States and United Kingdom Championships. After 40 grueling minutes, Ospreay was able to pull off the victory with a Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker.
Prior to the match, Ospreay had claimed his time was running out, and he didn’t know if he would feel safe leaving NJPW in Shooter’s hands. While Umino put those fears to rest with a star-making performance, Ospreay’s words led many to believe he would be leaving the company when his contract expires early in 2024.
Ospreay added to the speculation later that day, taking to social media after Seth Rollins successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre to leave a double-eye emoji, making it clear he was watching with interest.
Rollins later responded and seemed to be trying to tempt Ospreay to join him in WWE, saying “The water is warm.”

WWE In The Picture For Will Ospreay
While many believe he is most likely heading to All Elite Wrestling due to his numerous appearances for the company, there have been recent reports that WWE plans to make Will Ospreay the face of NXT Europe.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is indeed “absolutely in the picture” for the Commonwealth Kingpin.
“Will Ospreay is on the way out [of NJPW], and might be, he certainly teased WWE today because he and Seth Rollins tweeted back and forth.
“I wouldn’t say anything is definite with Ospreay, but people who think that it’s a guarantee it’s AEW, just put it this way, WWE is absolutely in the picture. I’ve said this before WWE is in the picture, AEW is in the picture, it’s whoever’s going to give him the best offer, and he’s going to go for both sides.”
Before Ospreay leaves NJPW behind, he has at least one more major bout coming up, as he has challenged Jon Moxley and David Finlay to a Triple Threat match at Wrestle Kingdom 18. In a surprise twist, it won’t be for the UK and US titles that Finlay destroyed at the end of Power Struggle, but a brand new title that has yet to be unveiled.
