Sting Addresses The Future Of Ric Flair In AEW

Ric Flair Sting Darby Allin on AEW Dynamite

Sting is on the road to retirement, and he says his longtime friend Ric Flair will be by his side the entire way.

Ahead of the October 25th episode of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that Tony Khan had a special gift in store for The Icon. Tony Schiavone brought out the WWE Hall of Famer and Darby Allin for an in-ring interview segment midway through the episode, and after The Icon addressed the crowd in attendance, he joked that he needed to give the microphone back to Schiavone.

Schiavone then announced it was time for the gift, with some familiar music playing in Philadelphia as Flair made his entrance. The 16-time World Champion declared that there are few moments in life that are magical and joined Schiavone in putting over The Icon for his performance at Clash of the Champions. Flair ended his address by calling the Hall of Famer the nicest guy he has ever met and jokingly chopped the longtime veteran.

Last week, Sting announced that his retirement bout would be taking place at Revolution 2024, and Flair made it clear that he wanted to accompany The Icon to the end of his career. According to a recent social media post, Sting is on board with this idea as he wrote:

“He put me on the map in the very beginning, and @RicFlairNatrBoy is going to be with me every step of the way to the end, and we’ll go out together in a blaze of glory! WWWOOOO! OOOWWW! It’s showtime!”

Sting Will Wrestle At AEW Full Gear

The in-ring reunion was cut short, however, when Christian Cage came out and interrupted proceedings, taking multiple shots at Flair. The segment ended with the announcement that Sting, Allin, and a mystery partner will face Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne at Full Gear.

A dream match in WWE that never took place was The Icon vs. The Deadman. In reference to this, The Undertaker jokingly revealed how he thought the match between himself and Sting would play out.
