AEW Star Addresses “Final Act” Of Their Career At Full Gear

AEW Star Addresses

Adam Copeland is very thankful for his most recent AEW match.

Following the shock debut at WrestleDream, Copeland made his debut on an AEW pay-per-view at Full Gear in the opening match of the main show. Wrestling on a big show for a different company for the first time in over 25 years, the Hall of Famer admitted that this one was special.

Taking to social media to look back on the match, Copeland referenced that even though he defied the odds to step back in the ring, the run will be ending soon:

I’m 50 years old. In the second and not really supposed to be happening, final act of my wrestling career. Last night I felt like the 17 year old kid stepping into that concrete like boxing ring at Sullys Gym back in 91. To feel so excited and have so much fun at this stage of my career is such a gift. To perform in The Great Western Forum for the first time, see names like Jimi Hendrix and The Doors painted on the entrance wall, man.

The match itself saw Copeland team with Sting, who is due to retire in a matter of months, and Darby Allin to defeat the trio of Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne. Looking at the past and future of wrestling, Copeland is still in disbelief but feels honoured that he got to share the ring with The Icon and with Allin:

To team with @darbyallin who is one insanely(key word insane) talented dude, who by the way hopped on a redeye after this match to go train in Nepal to climb Mount Everest, is invigorating. To team with one of my idols @stinger in his last match in California. To share the same space and be a peer of his, well 12 yr old Adam wouldn’t be able to fathom that. Hell 50 yr old Adam doesn’t. LA, you brought it. That was a bucket lister. Thank you

While Copeland and Sting will still be appearing on weekly programming, Darby Allin is taking some time away to climb Mount Everest.

Adam Copeland Receives Unlikely AEW Challenge

Following Full Gear, Copeland now looks ahead to the inevitable showdown with Cage at a future AEW event. When the rivalry is over, many fans are curious as to which stars The Rated R Superstar will face next as there are many first-time-ever matches available in the promotion. With many on the roster yet to step in the ring against the Hall of Famer, one star not signed to All Elite Wrestling but did wrestle in WWE recently issued a challenge to Adam Copeland during a Q and A.
