Jon Moxley Claims AEW International Title At All Out

Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite

Jon Moxley is holding championship gold once again.

Although Jon Moxley might be the new International Champion, it was a blood-soaked Orange Cassidy who won the hearts and minds of the AEW faithful. No man has fought harder to protect their championship, and no competitor has given as much to the cause as the freshly squeezed star in recent months.

Moxley jumped Cassidy from the opening bell, and the champion quickly went into survival mode. Something only made worse by a huge cut that caused him to paint the canvas and ringside area red.

The story of the match was simple, Moxley wanted the gold and was determined to so do whatever it took to get it. Orange Cassidy wanted to survive.

On more than one occasion, Cassidy came back from the brink, and in one instance he slammed Moxley’s body onto the concrete at ringside, and his rivals head into the ring steps with a devastating dropkick. Yet somehow, Moxley made it back into the ring with the count at nine.

From there, each man threw everything they had at the other. As blood poured from Cassidy’s head he refused to quit and even came within touching distance of the win following multiple Orange Punhes and a Spear. However, it was the former World Champion who took control in the final, violent stanza.

Cassidy defined logic, science, and even seemingly his own body to kick out of a Death Rider to leave the crowd stunned, but he was unable to repeat the trick for a second time as the referee’s hand finally counted the three.

As seems to have become tradition, whenever there’s drama backstage in AEW Jon Moxley comes to the fore and wins championship gold. But at All Out, he was taken to those heights by one of the promotions rising stars, and a man who embodies what it means to be All Elite.

With Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club heading up the ramp, Orange Cassidy gathered himself once more in front of a well-deserved standing ovation from the United Center.

When Did Jon Moxley Last Hold AEW Championship Gold?

The victory was Moxley’s first AEW championship win in almost a year. On that occasion, the star won the AEW World Championship for a third time after it had been declared vacant in the aftermath of the backstage brawl between CM Punk and The Elite.

Speaking in July, Jon Moxley set his sights on a unique first, declaring that he’s aiming to become the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Should Moxley achieve his goal, he’ll become the first man to hold World Titles in WWE, AEW, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

When discussing CM Punk’s return to WWE in a new interview, Jon Moxley stated that it is best that his thoughts remain unpublished.
