Tony Schiavone Labels CM Punk Segment As His Favourite AEW Moment Ever

Tony Schiavone

Veteran announcer Tony Schiavone has revealed that a recent segment involving CM Punk was his favourite of all time in AEW.

Punk was confronted by rival Ricky Starks on the 29th July edition of AEW Collision after revealing that the bag he had been carrying round contained the AEW World Championship he had won from Jon Moxley at AEW All Out last September.

Starks demanded a title match with the Chicago native on the 5th August episode of AEW Collision to which Punk agreed but on the provision that WWE Hall Of Famer Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat was the special guest referee after two questionable previous victories for the challenger.

It was an impactful encounter between the two Owen Hart Foundation finalists and a moment that Schiavone declared as his favourite AEW segment ever on a recent edition of his podcast ‘What Happened When’:

“You’re not going to be able to beat me and CM Punk and Ricky Starks this last Saturday. That has to go down as one of my favorite ones. I really enjoyed that … I loved it, loved the whole segment. I loved that segment, and I loved the segment the week before when we established that tag team match, and I was out there for that.”

“But listen, I also love … I love the stuff I did with Britt, where we did the thing, getting our nails done. I liked all of that stuff, working with her. But I really think … that segment Saturday night was one of my favorites, if not my favorite of all time, me being a part of, personally.”

What Happened When CM Punk Met Ricky Starks on August 5th?

CM Punk retained the title he never lost on the 5th August edition of AEW Collision, rolling up Starks for the three count after involvement from Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat.

A furious Ricky Starks would assault Steamboat with a belt after the match until Punk made the save. Starks has since been suspended for his actions.
