Updated Card For AEW WrestleDream

Ten matches are now official for the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view.

Following the events that took place at Grand Slam and Collision, changes were made to the card. While one match was intended to be added, a title match was forced to be altered due to unfortunate circumstances.

Following Ricky Starks’ Texas Death match defeat to Bryan Danielson on Collision, Starks declared that he survived and Danielson is still yet to pin or submit him. Wheeler Yuta interrupted Starks and stated that he is all style and no substance before challenging Starks to a match at WrestleDream.

Later in the show, Adam Cole sadly confirmed the news many had suspected following Grand Slam, where Cole landed awkwardly while rushing to ringside. Hobbling to the ring on crutches, Cole confirmed that his ankle is broken in 3 places and will require surgery. Just as Cole looked to relinquish the Ring of Honor Tag Titles, best friend MJF refused to let that happen. MJF then declared that he would ensure that the titles stayed in their possession and would fight The Righteous on his own at WrestleDream.

The updated card for the event is as follows:

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Hangman Page vs. Swerve Strickland
  • FTR (c) vs. Aussie Open – Tag team match for the AEW Tag Team Championships
  • MJF vs. The Righteous – Handicap match for the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships
  • Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata – Singles match for both the NJPW Strong & ROH World Championship
  • Christian Cage (c) vs. Darby Allin – Two out of three falls match for the TNT Championship
  • Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart – Singles match for the TBS Championship
  • Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita, and Sammy Guevara vs. Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho
  • Lucha Brothers vs. Hook & Orange Cassidy vs. The Gunns vs. The Young Bucks – The winners get a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championships at any time
  • Wheeler Yuta vs. Ricky Starks

When Is AEW WrestleDream?

The next pay-per-view in the AEW calendar will air live from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington on October 1st. Taking place one year after the death of Antonio Inoki, the event will be held in honour of the New Japan founder and a man whom Tony Khan has described as “wrestling’s greatest dreamer.”
