CM Punk Claims To Have Spoken To WWE Higher-Up Recently

CM Punk making his entrance at AEW Revolution 2022

CM Punk is said to have spoken to a notable figure within WWE as of late as Survivor Series in Chicago draws nearer.

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames is less than 12 hours away, where it’s long been speculated that if CM Punk were to make his return to the company following his termination from AEW, this would be the time and place.

At the time of writing, it looks highly unlikely that Punk will make an appearance at the Premium Live Event. Talks between WWE and CM Punk are reportedly “dead” but the company’s stance on his return could change if there was a significant enough response from fans.

Ahead of Survivor Series tonight, Sean Ross Sapp released a lengthy FAQ on Fightful Select summarising everything he’d heard regarding Punk potentially returning to WWE. While the post mainly reiterated previously reported details, some information did come to light.

Sapp noted that Punk has told one person close to him that he had spoken to a higher-up within WWE recently. However, he had been given no context as to what that conversation entailed.

Additionally, it was reported that top WWE talent who have asked about the situation have been directly told that CM Punk will not be appearing at the event. Key creative figures within the company have also been told the same and the wider creative team has not heard of any plans for him.

Could CM Punk Be The Person Shinsuke Nakamura Has Been Teasing?

Shinsuke Nakamura has been embroiled in the CM Punk speculation ever since he used Punk’s finisher, the GTS, live on Raw last month. The Japanese star certainly didn’t help matters this past Monday when he cut a cryptic promo calling out a mystery opponent who he teased as being “close.”

Sapp directly addressed the Shinsuke Nakamura speculation in the same FAQ, revealing that Nakamura is not set to appear at Survivor Series at all, let alone wrestle a returning Punk at the event. As to the identity of who his cryptic promo was aimed at, Sapp notes that both talent and creative figures he’s spoken to have no idea who it’s supposed to be.
