Backstage Reception To CM Punk At WWE Raw

CM Punk introduced himself to WWE Superstars old and new.

Although Punk returned to the company he left in at Survivor Series, the former World Champion was kept hidden for the majority of the show, only seen backstage minutes before his music hit to keep the surprise a closely guarded secret. With that in mind, Punk’s time backstage was minimal.

The same was not said for the November 27th edition of WWE Raw, where CM Punk was advertised to address the fans about his return. As his involvement is no longer a secret, Punk was able to interact with stars on the Raw roster. Phrases Punk used in his promo to describe how those reacted to his return included “family reunion” and “all love.” According to a backstage report, this is very much the case.

As reported by PWTorch, Punk tried to approach as many people as possible backstage and was described as “very nice” “humble” and “in a good mood.” It should be noted that one wrestler did add “But he knew he kinda had to be [nice],” referencing various reports regarding Punk’s alleged behaviour in AEW and the events that took place in 2014.

As noted by PWTorch, not everyone is convinced about this in the long term, with one wrestler stating “[It] seemed pretty positive all around, but we’ll see in a couple months if it sticks.” When asked if those backstage are dubious about Punk being overly nice, one source stated that half the roster are skeptical regarding whether this attitude will remain. However, the report does conclude by stating that Punk left a good first impression on those backstage all things considered regarding the last 10 years.

In regards to whether CM Punk plans to reference AEW drama, a new report has provided the answer.

Multiple Promotions Interested In CM Punk

Understandably, every major wrestling promotion wanted to sign Punk when they found out that he was the biggest free agent in the industry. Although WWE won the bidding war, another promotion had a “real offer” on the table for CM Punk.

In recent news, CM Punk did not have a no-compete clause after being fired from AEW.
