Jim Cornette Blasts “Gutless” Former WWE Champion

Jim Cornette

Jim Cornette didn’t mince words when calling out Glenn Jacobs, also known as WWE Hall of Famer Kane.

Glenn Jacobs is best known for his time in WWE portraying the Devil’s Favorite Demon, but in 2018 he entered the world of politics when he was elected mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. The star’s conservative libertarian views often draw criticism from those who oppose him, and legendary manager Jim Cornette called Jacobs out after a recent tweet regarding gun violence in the United States.

On November 6th, Jacobs took to social media with the following message:

“94% of public mass shootings in the US occur in gun free zones.”

Gun violence has long been a topic of conversation in the US, with mass shootings occurring nearly every day. The recent shooting in Lewistown, Maine has reinvigorated the discussion about gun control, and Jim Cornette didn’t hold back when taking Jacobs to task for his comment. Cornette wrote:

“And 100% of them are the fault of gutless elected officials like you who pander to the rightwing hillbillies instead of acknowledging the insanity of our gun ‘laws’ and doing something to severely restrict access to them. So f*ck off with your MAGA horsesh*t, Glenn. #F*CKTHENRA”

This is far from the first time Jacobs has been called out for controversial views. AEW stars Saraya and Britt Baker took the former Kane to task over his celebration of the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade in 2022.

Jim Cornette Praised Kane Before His WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

Despite their political differences, Cornette was full of praise when Jacobs was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. Speaking on The Jim Cornette Experience at the time, he had this to say:

“Kane is, at this point, the longest-running, continuous WWE roster guy since 1995 and he’s made seven figures a year on more than one occasion. He’s one of the standout names of the Attitude Era when pay-per-views were doing huge business, when the houses were doing big business, when the houses were big. More people would see Kane in a week in the course of one television programme than see all the TV programmes on a national basis altogether in these times.”

“Glenn has been a model employee. He never did anything outside the ring to embarrass himself or the company. His matches were well thought of. […] I can’t and have never been able to say anything bad about Glenn.”

“That’s a main event, Hall of Fame [induction] – especially the WWE Hall Of Fame. If you think about it Kane never wrestled for any other wrestling promotion in the United States Of America besides Memphis Wrestling, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, and WWE. He did jobs a couple of times when he had been in the business for two months on a couple of WCW tapings. And then he pretty much went to Puerto Rico so you could make the case that Glenn Jacobs besides two job appearances for WCW [worked in] Memphis, Smoky Mountain, Puerto Rico – if you count that as the continental United States and WWE in a 26/27 year career. It’s consistent.”
