Samoa Joe will be facing MJF in the AEW World Champion’s backyard.
The main event fight for AEW Grand Slam was made official as Samoa Joe defeated Roderick Strong to earn a shot at MJF’s cherished “Triple B” at Arthur Ashe Stadium next week in New York City. MJF may have the homefield advantage, but Samoa Joe being a certified star in pro wrestling could cultivate some interesting division amongst the crowd in Queens, NY.
However, Joe embraced his heelish ways as he closed Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite by choking out Adam Cole, MJF’s partner, buddy and pal.
On the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, Jay White challenged MJF to an AEW World Championship match at Full Gear.
What Else Is On Tap For AEW Grand Slam Besides Samoa Joe vs. MJF?
AEW Grand Slam is shaping up to be a heck of a show as Tony Khan and his AEW crew are making certain that the card is stacked as high as the Empire State Building. In addition to Samoa Joe vs. MJF, fans will be treated with several other World Title fights.
Another hometown hero in Eddie Kingston will continue his long-standing rivalry with Claudio Castagnoli and the stakes are high as it’s title vs. title. Kingston will put his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship on the line against Castagnoli’s ROH World Championship. Not only that, but Kingston agreed to shake the hand of Castagnoli at the event.
MJF wasn’t the only champion to receive a Grand Slam opponent on this week’s Dynamite. Saraya will be defending her AEW Women’s Championship against her old friend in Toni Storm after winning an eliminator match. Finally, Jon Moxley will put his AEW International gold on the line against Rey Fenix.
