Cody Rhodes Teases Massive WWE Return After Raw Goes Off Air

Cody Rhodes has hinted that he has a new ally to deal with The Judgment Day problem.

As seen in the main event of the November 13th episode of WWE Raw, Rhodes and Jey Uso hoped to become Tag Team Champions once again as they challenged Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Following interference earlier in the night, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce declared that the rest of Judgment Day, Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn would have to exit the arena before the match started.

Hoping for a fair fight, Rhodes and Uso received an unwanted surprise in the closing moments of the match as Drew McIntyre made his way to ringside and delivered a Claymore to Uso on the outside as the referee was distracted, allowing Balor to pin Uso and retain the titles. The show went off the air with McIntyre shaking the hand of Ripley, signalling his alliance with the faction and will likely be inserted into the WarGames match at Survivor Series.

Addressing the live crowd when the cameras stopped rolling, The American Nightmare admitted that he expected a different result in the title match. Addressing the unwanted appearance by McIntyre, Rhodes stated that he also has backup to deal with the numbers advantage:

“That’s not how I wanted to end the night, I’m sorry about that. But let’s hear it for Main Event Jey Uso. Looks like they got friends, right? Well spoiler alert, Jey Uso and I have friends too,”

Many are expecting this to signal the heavily rumoured return of Randy Orton, with the live crowd also chanting for Randy as Rhodes continued to thank the crowd for coming to Raw.

Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton Have Previous History

Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase Jr. would form The Legacy faction in 2008, a group consisting of multi-generational wrestlers. The group would be very successful in their time together as Orton would win the 2009 Royal Rumble while a part of Legacy and Rhodes would capture the Intercontinental Championship. However, tensions would grow when Rhodes and DiBiase would unsuccessfully interfere in Orton’s matches, leading to The Viper snapping at the 2010 Royal Rumble.

The feud would lead to a Legacy Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 26, which saw The Apex Predator be victorious. The rivalry would officially end at the 2010 Draft, which saw Rhodes drafted to SmackDown.

While being interviewed about his upcoming WarGames appearance, Cody Rhodes admitted that he has concerns over being the weak link.
