Randy Orton Explains Meaning Behind Jumping Toe Touch On WWE SmackDown

Randy Orton Explains Meaning Behind Toe Touch Celebration

Randy Orton discusses a WWE moment that went viral.

Back in May 2011, Orton faced off against Mark Henry on SmackDown. The match ended in disqualification due to interference from Sheamus, but the night was not over. As Christian dispatched Sheamus, Orton would hit The World’s Strongest Man with an RKO. What happened next would live on in fans’ minds more than a decade later, as The Viper leapt up into the air and touched his toes for no apparent reason.

Fans wondered why Orton busted out this feat of athleticism in the ring, with many believing that it was a celebration for hitting an RKO onto Henry. However, according to Orton, there was a different meaning behind it.

Speaking on WWE’s social media channels, Orton stated that he actually wanted to beat down Henry further but couldn’t so he performed the impressive move to release the adrenaline:

“The infamous toe touch. If I may, it was a hell of a toe touch, [I’m] quite the athlete. That toe touch was not me celebrating. I wanted to rage on my opponent. But, because my opponent was Mark Henry, I couldn’t get angry at Mark Henry. I had to get that adrenaline and anger out some other way, so for some other reason I chose to jump up and touch my feet. I don’t know why.

Randy Orton Reveals Origin Behind Using RKO

During his time in OVW and earlier days on the main roster, Orton experimented with a number of finishing manoeuvres before permanently using the RKO. In a recent interview with Logan Paul, Randy Orton explained why he settled on the RKO as his choice of finisher.
