WWE Almost Scrapped Randy Orton’s Iconic ‘Voices’ Entrance Theme

Randy Orton making his entrance on WWE SmackDown In December 2023

WWE is said to have considered replacing ‘Voices’, the iconic entrance theme that Randy Orton has used for well over 15 years!

Randy Orton returned to WWE after more than a year and a half away from the ring at Survivor Series: WarGames last month. Since then, The Viper has largely picked up where he left off in May 2022 by setting his sights on Roman Reigns and The Bloodline as a whole.

Orton has remained fairly consistent across the board over the last decade and beyond from his in-ring work to his overall presentation. However, one major change almost happened following his return to the company’s programming last month.

Fightful Select reports that WWE considered completely replacing Orton’s long-time entrance theme, Voices by Rev Theory, prior to the December 8th edition of SmackDown. Orton has used the theme for over a decade and a half, adopting it back in May 2008 as a replacement for ‘Burn In My Light’ by Mercy Drive.

Orton and WWE management are said to have discussed the potential change ahead of that show and ultimately decided to scrap the idea. The proposed new theme wouldn’t have been the 2023 version of Voices that Rev Theory released this past Summer and would have featured “no music off the top and limited lyrics.”

WWE Never Planned To Replace Voices For Randy Orton’s Return

Fightful also noted that although the change to Orton’s entrance theme was considered earlier this month, WWE always planned to have Orton return to the company with ‘Voices’.

WWE sources told the outlet that they felt it was important for Voices to remain for at least his first few appearances back in the company “for the purposes of familiarity” before they considered changing it.
