Mercedes Mone Wants Another Match With Bayley

Mercedes Mone and Bayley

Despite currently performing in different wrestling promotions, another match between Mercedes Mone and Bayley is not off the table.

Their ascent of the WWE ladder coincided with one another in the mid-2010’s, but even though Mercedes Mone is now affiliated with NJPW, she has still expressed her wish to once again step in the ring with Bayley.

This revelation came from a tweet sent earlier today by Mone, featuring the text “Let’s do this again someday 💙🌟 @itsBayleyWWE” with a picture of the two hugging in a WWE ring.

Amazingly, Mercedes Mone and Bayley have shared a ring a staggering 378 times according to cagematch.net. This ranges between their NXT appearances in 2013, to just before Mercedes’ WWE exit in 2021, which works out to around 47 matches a year.

Mercedes Mone’s tweet coincides with the eighth anniversary of her eighteen-minute epic with Bayley at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn in 2015.

In this match, Bayley dethroned Mone (then Sasha Banks) of the NXT Women’s Championship in a fierce encounter that is highly regarded to this day.

Today’s tweet does beg an interesting question though: if Mone and Bayley do meet again inside the squared circle, will it be within WWE, or elsewhere?

Is Mercedes Mone Injured?

Unfortunately, Mercedes Mone is currently dealing with an ankle injury. The injury was sustained in a match with Willow Nightingale at NJPW STRONG Resurgence 2023.

NJPW released a statement regarding the injury shortly after its occurrence;

“During her match with Willow Nightingale in the main event of Resurgence May 21, Mercedes Moné sustained an injury to her right ankle.”

“Moné underwent a thorough appraisal of her injury immediately after her match and began treatment.”

“New Japan Pro-Wrestling joins fans in wishing Moné a full and fast recovery.”
