Mercedes Mone Hits Back At Reports About Surprise WWE Departure

Mercedes Mone did not depart WWE due to creative differences.

On May 16th, 2022, Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of a WWE Raw taping, causing the main event to be changed. The walkout sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world as not only were they the Women’s Tag team Champions at the time, but the way that the company handled it was heavily criticised.

In a rare acknowledgement of backstage drama, the sudden departure was addressed on Raw by Corey Graves, who described Sasha Banks and Naoimi as “unprofessional” in their actions, much to the anger of the fans. In the following weeks, reports would surface that Banks and Naomi had reported creative frustrations with WWE and the walkout ultimately led to both of their releases.

Now known as Mercedes Mone, the New Japan star recently appeared at New York Comic Con. While most of the fans were happy to just meet Mone, one fan decided to go straight to the source and address the rumours.

When the fan stated that he read the rumours online, Mone laughed and revealed that these rumours were false, but the truth would come out eventually:

Fan: I know that you left WWE because of the creative issues-

Mone: Is that the reason?

Fan: That’s what I read.

Mone: Oh, that’s what you read? But you weren’t there! HaHa! So no.

Fan: So what’s the real reason?

Mone: Why would I tell you? Why would I just tell you?

Fan: I want to know.

Mone: You ain’t gonna see my interview, you ain’t gonna read my book?

Fan: I am. I’ll do all of that.

Mone: Alright, then just wait. Thank you, keep on reading your fiction books, okay?

Will Mercedes Mone Wrestle In AEW?

As Mone was spotted in the crowd at All In and the relationship between New Japan and All Elite Wrestling remains strong, all signs appear to be pointing to The CEO making a surprise debut for the promotion. In a recent interview, Mercedes Mone dropped the latest hint at an AEW appearance.
