Kurt Angle and Christian Cage have a long history together, dating back to their time in WWE as Team ECK in the year 2000. Edge was the third member of the group, and while both he and Angle have gone on to be WWE Hall of Famers, Christian hasn’t yet received that honor.
Cage is currently signed to AEW, where he’s been embroiled in a bitter feud with “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry for months. When Jungle Boy returned to the company after suffering a storyline injury at the hands of Christian, he thought his partner Luchasaurus had chosen loyalty to their Jurassic Express tag team; however, it was later revealed that Luchasaurus had been corrupted by Cage, and the popular tag team was no more as the dinosaur turned to the dark side.
Christian Cage is currently sidelined with an injury and expected to miss a lengthy period of time in AEW.
Kurt Angle Thinks Christian Cage Deserves More Credit Than He’s Given
Speaking on a recent episode of the Kurt Angle Show (available early via AdFreeShows), the Olympic gold medalist revealed that he sees Christian Cage as the most underrated wrestler of all time, and one who’s deserving of far more credit than he gets as he’s often relegated to Edge’s shadow.
“[Christian Cage] is the most underrated wrestler of all time. He never gets the credit that he deserves. … He’s a superstar, don’t get me wrong. But he’s always been in the shadow of Edge and he’s actually just as good as Edge, and he’s actually better than all of us at putting matches together. He comes up with incredible spots and incredible ideas. The kid is so creative and he goes out on the mat and backs it up. He’s just an incredible wrestler.”
Childhood friends Edge and Christian Cage came up in the professional wrestling business together and eventually made their way to the WWE following work in the Canadian independent scene. After he was forced to announce his retirement from professional wrestling in 2011, Edge was inducted into the 2012 class of the WWE Hall of Fame. He returned to WWE in the 2020 Royal Rumble, announcing that his neck was once again healthy enough for him to compete. He is currently a member of the WWE Raw roster and is embroiled in a feud with The Judgment Day.
Kurt Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2017 class and would go on to serve as WWE Raw General Manager shortly thereafter. He officially retired from in-ring competition following a loss to Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35.
