Christian Cage To Undergo Surgery, Set To Miss Lengthy Period

Christian Cage stands on AEW stage AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts 2022

Christian Cage is set for a lengthy period on the side-lines and is due to undergo major surgery.

At AEW All Out Christian Cage was due to take on Jungle Boy Jake Perry in a heated grudge match.

The rivalry began on June 15th when in the aftermath of Jurassic Express’ defeat to the Young Bucks, Cage turned on Jungle Boy leaving him laying with a con-chair-to. In the weeks after the attack Luchasaurus aligned with Cage acting firmly under his instruction.

However, AEW’s resident dinosaur re-joined Jungle Boy on July 20th, and the pair have been together since waging war against Cage.

With Cage waiting in the ring at All Out, Jungle Boy made his entrance but was quickly blindsided by Luchasaurs, who choke slammed him onto a steel grid, before driving him through a table at ringside. Despite this, Perry ordered the match to start but was quickly defeated as a result of the pre-match assault.

It was revealed after the event that the match was kept so brief as Christian Cage is dealing with an injury. Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Cage will be out of action for up to eight months after undergoing surgery.

“His injury may be the exact same injury as Punk (believed to be torn triceps). So we’re talking again like an eight-month-ish, six-to-nine months of being out.”

Earlier in the show, Meltzer revealed that now-former AEW World Champion CM Punk is set to be out of an extended period as he also requires surgery.
