Sycho Sid Reveals The “Biggest Mistake” He Ever Made In Wrestling

Sycho Sid Reveals The

Former WWE Champion Sycho Sid opened up about what he believes to be the biggest misstep of his wrestling career.

In an appearance on Prime Time with Sean Mooney, Sycho Sid spoke about how he found himself at a crossroads where he had to choose between signing with WCW or WWE. At the time, Dusty Rhodes, who was set to become the booker for WCW, wanted Sid to be the main attraction and insisted that he sign a new deal with WCW before receiving a main event push.

WCW had offered Sid the option to call Vince McMahon to discuss an alternative offer. He believed that he could potentially take the spot of the legendary Hulk Hogan in the company. Sid wasted no time and promptly got on a plane to meet with McMahon that same afternoon. Initially, Sid was leaning towards the guaranteed money that WCW had offered him. However, McMahon’s final pitch convinced him to change his mind, ultimately leading to his regrettable decision.

Upon returning home, Sid received news that WCW had caught wind of his conversation with McMahon and had raised their offer to $750,000, with a guaranteed salary. Feeling frustrated and enticed by the substantial sum, Sid decided to sign with WCW. Little did he know that this would turn out to be the biggest mistake of his life.

Reflecting on the situation, Sid admitted:

I made my mind up to f**king take that chance. And it was a big mistake, I never made that kind of money [in WWE]. I made $150,000 for WrestleMania. I made good money, I don’t think I made $750,000. Still, it was a big mistake, when I look back on it, it was the only real mistake I made in the business.

Who Caused Sycho Sid’s Infamous Botch?

Sycho Sid spoke in a different interview and blamed John Laurinaitis for the infamous botch which resulted in Sid breaking his tibia and fibula.
