Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa are set to debut a new WWE theme song on the next episode of Raw.
Fans of the Black and Gold era of NXT have been hopeful that DIY would eventually reunite now that Gargano and Ciampa are both a part of the main roster. With the reunion now official, it has also been confirmed that their entrance will be getting a refresh.
While speaking on a Twitch stream, Gargano confirmed that the new song will premiere when DIY face Imperium on the October 30th episode of WWE Raw:
“Y’all remember? Yeah. Of course. Everyone’s going to want to know about the music. To be fair, if you all remember when DIY debuted, that song they gave us was just a stock song. It wasn’t like it was hand-picked for us or anything like that. We were not under contract yet. It just kind of caught on. But me and Tommaso are very excited about the potential of something new. Like, I think it could be so much more. I’m trying not to spoil too much stuff. You just have to tune in on Monday. As much as I can tell you, you have to tune in on Monday.
It’s going to be very cool. I think it’s got a very cool vibe. I think it’s something we both are really pumped about. So we hope you guys dig it, too. That’s basically what it comes down to. We hope you guys dig it. We dig it. It’s something fresh, something new. And I think it’s going to be hopefully something that catches on. And years from now, you guys will talk about that song.
Gargano continued, revealing that there is an easter egg for DIY fans contained in the song:
Ronnie is asking if it has lyrics. You got to watch it on Monday. You’ve got to tune in to Monday Night Raw. I don’t want to know if I can hum the song for you. Well, I will say it does have hints. Hints. And it is, the older song is in there, so I could hum the old song because it’s in there somewhere. Hints of it. I especially like DIY and our story. We really like to keep a common thread. We like to pay tribute to the past while also looking towards the future. I think that’s very important, especially for long-term viewers.”
Gargano fans will remain optimistic about the upcoming theme, as many are in agreement that the main roster remix of “Rebel Heart” does not have the same impact as the NXT theme did.
DIY Aims To Cement Their WWE Legacy
First formed in 2015, Gargano and Ciampa quickly became fan favourites amongst the NXT Universe. The team would reach the top of the division in 2016 when they defeated The Revival to capture the NXT Tag Team Championships. After losing the title to The Authors of Pain and losing a subsequent rematch, Ciampa would betray Gargano in one of the most emotional breakups in WWE history at NXT TakeOver Chicago. Following singles success for both men, the team would reunite one final time in NXT in 2020.
With the reunion now official, Johnny Gargano has thanked the fans for not forgetting about DIY following the reunion with Tommaso Ciampa.
