WWE Has Held Talks Over Potential Drew McIntyre Match At Money In The Bank

Drew McIntyre hasn’t featured on WWE television since competing at WrestleMania 39 where he took on Gunther and Sheamus.

It has since come to light that McIntyre was banged up heading into the match, but was determined to perform regardless. However, this performance came against a backdrop of uncertainty about his WWE future, with the star and the company said to be some way apart when it comes to agreeing a new deal.

The Scottish star didn’t appear on either night of the WWE Draft and reportedly wasn’t told about his move to Raw in advance as he would have been usually.

Despite this, it appears that he could be back in action very soon, but only if creative is locked in beforehand.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed reports that McIntyre and WWE have held talks regarding a return. Meltzer explained that McIntyre is seemingly determined to make sure his next run is meaningful as it could be his last with the company.

It would seem like a homerun to have McIntyre appear at Money In The Bank given that it’s taking place in the UK, and as Clash At The Castle showed, McIntyre is tremendously popular.

“There has been talk about getting Drew McIntyre back for the show, although there is no obvious opponent for him. There is interest in getting McIntyre back for the 7/1 Money in the Bank show, which makes sense. PWInsider reported meetings and creative pitches for him took place last week and others close to the situation confirmed that to us that it was accurate.

He had been banged up and took time off after WrestleMania but wanted creative locked in place before returning. The logical role is as a heel working with Rollins. The basic gist is that from his standpoint he wants to make sure everything is locked in because unless a new deal is reached it would be his last run at this time and wanted to have it have impact. Of late his family has been dealing with the heartbreaking death of his sister-in-law, who was only 36, which has been his family’s prime concern in recent weeks.”

Drew McIntyre Attending The Special Olympics For WWE

While Drew McIntyre’s future with WWE is uncertain, this hasn’t impacted his work outside of the ring for the company. It was recently announced that the former World Champion will be heading to Berlin on June 17th for the Special Olympics on behalf of the company.
