Interesting Name Behind AEW Title Match Switch To Dynamite

AEW Undisputed World Title CM Punk Jon Moxley Graphic

A new report has indicated who may have been responsible for the idea of moving CM Punk and Jon Moxley’s Undisputed AEW Title match to Dynamite.

CM Punk became AEW World Champion back at Double Or Nothing when he defeated Hangman Adam Page for the gold. An unfortunate injury took Punk out of action for most of the summer and in his place, Jon Moxley was crowned Interim AEW World Champion when he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door in June.

Now Punk is back and AEW is not big enough for two world champions so The Best In The World and Jon Moxley were always on a collision course to crown an Undisputed AEW World Champion but that collision is coming quicker than most people anticipated.

It was announced on the 17th of August edition of Dynamite after Moxley brawled with Punk to open the show that the two men would clash at All Out on September 4th live on pay-per-view, by the end of the night, however, that plan had changed.

Towards the end of Dynamite, the announce team sounded shocked as Excalibur revealed that CM Punk and Jon Moxley will instead clash on the 24th of August edition of AEW’s flagship show in Cleveland, Ohio on free television.

Fightful Select has now reported that the person that pitched the idea for the move was Jon Moxley himself. The source that suggested it was Moxley’s idea is also quoted as saying that “eventually CM Punk agreed to it.” The report also notes that the match taking place on Dynamite was not the original plan and that “multiple plans” for All Out have changed.

It has also been reported that before Dynamite, a “mandatory talent meeting” will take place amid rumours of unrest in All Elite Wrestling.
