Tony Khan Calls CM Punk Outburst “Unresolved Anger”

CM Punk Hangman Adam Page

AEW President Tony Khan has waded into the situation surrounding CM Punk calling out Hangman Adam Page in an unplanned moment on Dynamite.

The August 17th episode of AEW Dynamite opened in spectacular fashion with a blockbuster segment between CM Punk and Jon Moxley. During his opening promo Punk took multiple digs at Moxley’s past in WWE as well as his current role in AEW, in response, Moxley said Punk only came to AEW for the money, before a huge brawl ensued.

However, before Punk addressed Moxley he also took aim at the man he defeated for the AEW World Championship, Hangman Adam Page. Punk branded the former champion a coward and challenged him to a rematch on the spot in an unplanned moment.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan has addressed issues between CM Punk and Adam Page and admits there is “unresolved anger” that led to Punk’s outburst:

“It’s unresolved anger, I think, from the world title match at Double or Nothing and we had not really tied up all those issues. CM Punk made one appearance to wrestle after Double or Nothing and it was immediately after that he got injured and was forced to step away.”

“There was clearly some stuff that never got resolved at Double or Nothing. Then, immediately, jumped into somebody who has challenged him, in not a type of match we’ve ever had in AEW before. We’ve had interim championships established, but we’ve never had an Interim World Champion or an Undisputed World Championship match like this.”

CM Punk will have to put any thoughts of Hangman Adam Page to one side as he is set to clash with Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite in Cleveland, Ohio to crown an Undisputed AEW World Champion on Dynamite.
