Cody vs. Darby Allin for the AEW TNT Championship at AEW Full Gear was confirmed on Wednesday’s edition of the promotion’s Dynamite.
Though the bout had been announced several weeks ago, it was up in the air due to the champion’s mini-feud with Orange Cassidy which also came to a close this Wednesday.
After Cody and Cassidy fought to a time limit draw on the October 14 edition of AEW Dynamite, the pair were slated to clash once again in a Lumberjack Match on the October 21 show. The winner would meet the renegade Allin at Full Gear.
After Cody prevailed with the ring surrounded and his next challenger watching on, the championship match for November 7 was set.
Full Gear will be the fourth meeting between Cody and Darby Allin in just over a year. The champion prevailed at Fyter Fest 2019, the AEW Dynamite Homecoming show and again in the Semi-Finals of the AEW TNT Championship Tournament.
Recently, Allin has been locked in a feud with Team Taz and defeated Ricky Starks to send a message to the faction on the September 30 AEW Dynamite. He’s even taken a step into the main event scene when he challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship on the August 5 episode.
Cody defeated Mr. Brodie Lee on October 7 to regain the AEW TNT Championship after dropping the title to The Dark Order leader on the August 22 AEW Saturday Night Dynamite.
