The Elite Fall To Shock Defeat On AEW Return

Kenny Omega The Young Bucks The Elite

After two months out of the ring The Elite made their return at AEW Full Gear 2022 but they didn’t get the fairy tale ending that they hoped for.

Played to the ring by Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas, The Elite entered to a monster ovation as they were greeted like returning heroes.

The Elite Defeated On Return

The match began in a riotous atmosphere, with the crowd on their feet and they didn’t sit down for the entirety. The first men to enter the battle were Kenny Omega and PAC, in the renewing of a rivalry that has spanned years. Omega, who looked noticeably leaner than he did when he last appeared gained an early advantage, but PAC restored parity only to spit in his rivals face.

As the match progressed the pace was relentless, and both teams enjoyed spells in the control. It wasn’t long until the action broke down altogether with bodies flying every which way. Omega launched himself over the top rope, before Matt Jackson flattened Rey Fenix with a DDT on the ring apron. This was followed by Nick Jackson hitting a top rope Huricanrana from the top rope to the bodies below on Penta.

Once back in the ring the chaos continued, but it wasn’t long until PAC decided to take a shortcut.

PAC threw his now signature hammer to Rey Fenix, but again Fenix decided against using it, and was nearly pinned by Omega as a result. As the crowd chanted “Fight Forever” Penta got his team back in contention, only for The Elite to come back with a BTE Trigger on Fenix.

However, the hammer came back into the mix as PAC threw it to Fenix for a second time as Omega hoisted him up for the One Winged Angel. But this time Fenix gave in to the urging of the British star and drilled the former World Champion before rolling him up to score the upset and retain the titles.
