Tony Schiavone Reveals Tony Khan’s “Great Hire”

Tony Khan cuts a promo withTony Schiavone

Tony Schiavone thinks Tony Khan made a great hire recently.

The latest episode of “What Happened When” had Schiavone paying tribute to both Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt, both undeniable students of the pro wrestling world from completely different eras. Chris Hero is another notorious student of the squared circle and Schiavone makes mention of Hero being hired by AEW as a coach.

“Afterwards, me and Chris Hero hung out for a couple of hours, just sitting down and having some coffee and talking about wrestling for two hours. I just love talking to him about it. Talking to him about not only the history, about what works as far as a wrestling ring, what works in the ring, what doesn’t work, what he has seen.”

Tony Schiavone Appreciates The Passion Of Chris Hero

Tony Schiavone and Tony Khan have become pretty close with one another since Schiavone was hired by AEW and told Conrad Thompson how he appreciates the insight and passion that Chris Hero brings to the environment backstage.

“I’ve developed a very good relationship with Chris. Not only that, I’ve said it to him, that he’s a hell of coach. He knows his wrestling, and he’s a very positive, good guy. Great hire by Tony Khan.”

Both Hero and Khan are known as wrestling encyclopedias so it makes sense that the AEW President would see the value in Hero backstage in a coaching role. Additionally, Hero has plenty of history with a lot of the AEW locker room and the former ROH Tag Team Champion has never labeled himself retired from the ring.
