WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has discussed the possibility of Bray Wyatt bringing back The Fiend character in WWE as his persona looks to be heading towards the darker side once again after Uncle Howdy made his in-person debut on SmackDown.
Ever since Uncle Howdy’s first appearance back in late October, the character has been shrouded in mystery outside of his as-yet unknown link to Bray Wyatt. The eerie figure has continually interrupted Wyatt on both SmackDown and Crown Jewel, alluding to the former WWE Champion’s past personas and “inner demons” across a series of cryptic messages.

Howdy’s appearances continued unabated during Wyatt’s recent tensions with LA Knight – now seemingly reaching a breaking point.
During the latest edition of SmackDown, it was revealed that LA Knight had been kidnapped and gagged by an unknown figure during last week’s episode in the latest of several backstage attacks on the former NXT star. Knight made his way to the ring and accused Bray Wyatt, claiming he and Uncle Howdy were one and the same. Wyatt then confronted the former NXT star with Knight attacking him in the ring. The mysterious Uncle Howdy then made his way through the entranceway as maniacal laughter filled the arena.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray explained why he hopes this darker twist to Wyatt doesn’t lead to the return of The Fiend:
“I’d rather just see Bray Wyatt back than an incarnation of The Fiend, and maybe we’re gonna get Bray like we got Finn and we’re not gonna rely on the gimmicky things like Finn hasn’t unleashed The Demon in a long time. We’re getting Finn Balor. Hopefully, we just stick with Bray Wyatt, with bits and pieces of The Fiend being thrown back in.”
“It’s one of those characters that it’s so great that sometimes it backs itself and books itself into a corner because would the character do this? If the character is this maniacal madman, how can anything possibly hurt him?”
