Has Steve Austin Confirmed WrestleMania 39 Status?

Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin has been heavily rumoured for a match at WrestleMania 39 and now the legend’s status for the event could be confirmed.

Steve Austin wrestled his final match in 19 years as he brought his epic trilogy with The Rock on The Grandest Stage of The All to a close in Seattle at WrestleMania 19. Austin was forced to step away from the ring due to serious injuries suffered during his career but in the world of wrestling no one is gone forever.

At WrestleMania 38, The Texas Rattlesnake was advertised to appear in an edition of The Kevin Owens Show to close out night one. When the two stars got to the ring, however, the true nature of what was about to happen quickly became apparent.

Owens challenged Austin to match and the WWE Hall of Famer duly obliged with the two men competing in a fun brawl that ended in one more win for Stone Cold.

There have been numerous reports and suggestions that Steve Austin could be set to open yet another can of whoop-ass as WrestleMania ‘goes Hollywood’ in Los Angeles, California on April 1st and 2nd, but the book now might be closed on that idea.

Steve Austin Was Offered Brock Lesnar Or Roman Reigns

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer noted that for fans of Austin, as far as WrestleMania 39 goes, it looks like bad news:

“As far as Austin goes, Steve might be at the show – I wouldn’t be surprised at all – he might do something on the show, but he did in fact turn down wrestling at the show.

“He was offered Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns, he could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else. But he did not choose to wrestle on the show.”

While it looks like Stone Cold Steve Austin is out of contention for a WrestleMania match of any kind, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has his match for the event confirmed as he will officially put his championships on the line against 2023 Royal Rumble winner, Cody Rhodes.
