“It Would Be Really Dangerous”: Natalya On TJ Wilson Returning To WWE

Natalya has given an unfortunate update on the possibility of TJ Wilson making a return to the ring.

Known as Tyson Kidd in WWE, Wilson suffered a career-ending injury in 2015 after taking a Muscle Buster from Samoa Joe during a dark match of WWE Raw. It should be noted that this was an accident and no one was at fault.

With Saraya and Adam Copeland each making returns after also having neck injuries, some have speculated that Wilson may too be able to have one final run and end on his terms. However, according to Wilson’s wife Natalya, this is not possible.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Natalya revealed that Wilson is able to show wrestlers how to do certain moves and has a great mind for the business, but is unable to take any bumps:

“He can’t do anything that would require him to take a bump. So he can show little techniques, and TJ is like a wrestling savant. I think in the same way that Daniel Bryan did. He sees the industry in wrestling and everything, like he could ask him about a finish from a Bret Hart, match that’s very obscure, he’ll be able to tell you, he could tell you any single girl’s move set.

The former Women’s Champion continued to explain the injury, stating that the risks are simply too high following neck fusion surgery:

And he’s just so gifted, and he’s so good, but he just can’t bump. And that’s the thing when you have an injury, like what TJ had, where it’s a C1 injury, and not everybody’s familiar with what a C1 injury is.

But it is where TJ broke his neck was at the base of his brain. So it’s where like the brain and the spinal cord meet. So it’s a very, very vulnerable area. And the actual medical term for that injury is called The Hangman fracture. So when people say, Oh, TJ, you know, we want to see you get back in the ring. And they see that he is very healthy, and he is in very great shape.

Because he had a C1 injury with a C1 C2 fusion, he just can’t take a bump. And he has to be very careful. So he can’t ever come back to wrestling. I mean, he can do stuff, you know, he can do stuff, but he can’t take a bump. It would be really dangerous.”

Following the retirement from in-ring competition, TJ Wilson now works as a producer for the company, mainly focusing on structuring women’s matches.

Natalya Continues To Impress WWE Higher-Ups

Having been a part of the main roster since 2008, the former Women’s Tag team Champion has now firmly established herself as a ring veteran and ring general. Still putting on great performances in 2023, Natalya was said to have impressed WWE officials during the recent trip to India.

Natalya’s longevity has also been recognised in the history books as the former Women’s Champion set a new record at WrestleMania 39.

In a November 2023 interview, Tyson Kidd also confirmed that he has no plans to step back inside a WWE ring, stating that there is no point.
