Why Becky Lynch Vs. Trish Stratus Has Been Removed From WWE SummerSlam

Becky Lynch punches Trish Stratus on WWE Raw

The reason why the highly anticipated match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus has been bulled from SummerSlam has been revealed.

As reported by Fightful Select, WWE is looking to limit the number of matches and overall runtime for their Premium Live Events moving forward, meaning that bouts that at first appeared to be a lock for the show have been moved to TV programming shortly before or after the PLE. If the match were to take place on SummerSlam, sources have told Fightful that the match time would have been “severely limited.”

It was originally speculated that the match was delayed due to a possible injury, but Fightful has confirmed that both Superstars are cleared to compete and available for the upcoming event.

The report concludes by saying that neither of the former Women’s Champions are happy about not being on the card, with both Lynch and Stratus expressing frustrations on social media.

Lynch and Stratus’ long-awaited singles match has now been officially announced for the August 14th episode of Raw, which will emanate from the Hall of Famer’s home country of Canada. Lynch had earned the opportunity to face Stratus one-on-one on the July 31st episode of Raw after defeating Zoey Stark the week prior. Stratus was forced into the match by WWE Official Adam Pearce, with Stark causing the disqualification immediately after the bell rang. Unhappy with how the match played out, Pearce confirmed the date for the rematch.

How Many Times Has Becky Lynch Been WWE Women’s Champion?

The Man made a triumphant return at SummerSlam 2021, being a last-minute replacement for Sasha Banks to challenge Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s title. Lynch would shockingly defeat The EST in 26 seconds to become a 6-time champion in WWE.

The rivalry is still ongoing and set to finally conclude at Payback in September. Stratus herself has revealed that she is ready to move on from Lynch.
