William Regal

On December 7th Tony Khan finally confirmed that William Regal would be leaving All Elite Wrestling. The announcement came after weeks of speculation that went into overdrive after Triple H used a video clip of the star to help hype Survivor Series WarGames on social media.

Although it was confirmed that Regal would be departing AEW and joining WWE, details of the agreement had been unclear. The only real insight being that as part of his exit he would be unable to appear on television.

William Regal Agrees Terms With WWE

It has now been reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that Regal has officially agreed terms with WWE regarding his new position. Furthermore, he will be starting with the company in the first week of January.

Johnson adds that Regal will hold a Executive Vice President role within WWE, also the specifics are currently unknown.

William Regal originally signed with AEW back in March having been released by WWE just two months earlier. However, he later instructed Tony Khan not to take up the option on his contract, meaning he could return to his former home. Khan stated that Regal wanted to go back to WWE in order to work with his son.

During his time with AEW Regal was an integral part of the Blackpool Combat Club alongside Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta. However, the British veteran turned on Moxley at Full Gear costing him the AEW World Championship. This created an alliance with MJF, but that was quickly shattered after the new champion attacked him, sending him out of Dynamite on a stretcher.

On the December 7th edition of Dynamite Regal said farewell to AEW and the BCC in a pre-taped interview. The star said that his betrayal of Moxley was necessary in order for him to leave the group. He later added that he was BCC for life.

William Regal has a long-standing friendship with Triple H which extends back to their time working together in WCW in the mid-1990s.

In recent news, William Regal recalled his ten-year anniversary since his last match.
