Rob Van Dam Makes Shock AEW Debut

Rob Van Dam on AEW Dynamite

On August 2nd, Rob Van Dam made the “walk” into AEW.

Jack Perry’s desire to get on the wrong side of everyone who ever appeared in ECW came back to bite him on the 200th episode of AEW Dynamite.

On the show, Perry came to the ring and called on Jerry Lynn to confront him, a continuation of their spat in recent weeks. Lynn came out to the ramp but said that he couldn’t fight Perry because no doctor would clear him to do so. The story played into Lynn’s retirement from a decade earlier which was kicked into motion by a serious back injury.

Despite this, Lynn said he has a friend from ECW that still wrestles, and that brought out Rob Van Dam to his classic ECW theme, “Walk” by Pantera.

Perry quickly escaped, but while RVD and Lynn were in the ring he tried to sneak back in and attack, only for Van Dam to cut him off, and the former AEW Tag Team Champion headed for the back once more.

Is Rob Van Damn Going To Wrestle In AEW?

The appearance from the WWE Hall of Famer came after it was reported that Rob Van Dam was being considered for a match at All In. While a match at Wembley Stadium could still happen, Van Dam will be in action on August 9th when he takes on Perry for the FTW Title.

The match was made after the WCW legend challenged Perry in a backstage interview after their in-ring confrontation.

Van Dam hasn’t wrestled for a major US promotion since leaving IMPACT Wrestling in 2019, however, he’s stayed active on the independent scene and made a brief stop in Pro Wrestling NOAH in July 2022.
