Jim Cornette Blasts Tony Khan’s “Bulls*t” Statement On CM Punk

Jim Cornette

Legendary wrestling personality Jim Cornette has slammed AEW President Tony Khan for claiming his life was in danger at AEW All In.

Shortly before a scheduled match with Samoa Joe at the huge event held at Wembley Stadium in London, CM Punk got into an altercation with Jack Perry, with reports suggesting that the Chicago native had also lunged in the direction of Khan.

Khan made a statement at the start of the most recent AEW Collision broadcast, noting that he had feared for his life during the incident:

“Today I had to make one of the toughest decisions of my professional career, today I terminated Phil Brooks, CM Punk, for cause.

This stems from a backstage incident at AEW All In last Sunday. The incident was regrettable and it endangered people backstage.

That includes the production staff, the people who put the show on every week. Innocent people who had nothing to do with it.

I’ve been going to wrestling shows for over thirty year, I’ve been producing them on this network for nearly four years. Never in all that time have I ever felt, until Sunday, that my security, my safety, my life was in danger.

I don’t think anyone should feel that way at work”

The outspoken Cornette, who is best known for his high-profile stints managing legendary tag teams The Midnight Express, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog and The Heavenly Bodies, took to social media site ‘X’ to share his opinion on Khan’s claim, claiming it to be the most stunning announcement in his near 50-year career:

“I’ve been involved in a business filled with exaggeration & hyperbole for almost 50 years, & I have NEVER heard a single line of dialogue containing a more stunning, awe-inspiring metric fuckton of unadulterated bullshit in my life as I heard uttered tonight. #ScaredForHisLife”

Was Tony Khan Right To Fire CM Punk?

Although Tony Khan’s decision has not been popular with the people of Chicago, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has praised the AEW owner for his difficult decision making, calling the move to fire CM Punk the “right call.”

In a lengthy update, Cornette has gone into detail about the mistakes made by Khan.
