Jim Cornette was not a fan of AEW’s latest Blood & Guts match.
The match saw the Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta teaming up with Konosuke Takeshita and a returning Pac go to war with The Golden Elite team of Kenny Omega, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, The Young Bucks, and Kota Ibushi inside two rings surrounded by a steel cage.
The two teams used everything at their disposal to try to end their months-long feud and the ring ended up littered with thumbtacks, glass, tables, and bodies. Having already been abandoned by Pac and Takeshita, Moxley threw in the towel for his team when Page and Matt Jackson began viciously choking Wheeler Yuta with a chain.
One man who wasn’t won over by the bout was Jim Cornette. During his latest Experience podcast, the veteran manager didn’t hold back as he called it a “garbage match” that showed the participants couldn’t get out of the “indie outlaw” mindset.
“The garbage match didn’t stop until the break of dawn. Again, they can put all of Tony’s money and resources and they’ve got the giant cage and they’ve got the goddamn production and the big building so that they can do all this sh*t, and they just can’t get out of the goddamn rec center.
“They have to do the narrow-casted, small-minded, indie outlaw niche style of wrestling that most people are gonna look at and either go, ‘What are these f**king fake kids playing?’ Or in the same match, ‘Look at these disgusting f**king circus freaks slicing themselves up,’ and they accomplished both of those things at the same time.”

Elsewhere in his review, Cornette revealed that AEW had accomplished “the impossible.” Despite his dislike of much of the product, the firebrand has often had high praise for the company’s World Champion, MJF. However, he has even lost interest in the Salt of the Earth due to his comedic tag team shenanigans with Adam Cole.
“Goddamn it, I can’t watch this f*cking fake silliness with children. It’s, if nothing else, disrespectful to the wrestling business, but also, again, long-term, not good.”
