Changes Coming To AEW Collision Following CM Punk Departure

AEW Collision Segment Blasted As

According to a new report, AEW’s soft roster split is coming to an end.

When Collision was first announced back in May, it came with reports that a soft roster split would be in operation. This was thought to be in part due to the logistics of launching a new show, but perhaps more importantly in would serve to keep locker room unrest to a minimum with CM Punk being a central figure on the Saturday night show.

In practice, Collision became the primary place to see not just Punk, but also the likes of Bullet Club Gold, FTR, Miro, and Andrade El Idolo.

With Punk having been fired from the company with cause due to his backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In, there has been a lot of speculation on what the future holds for Collision without its marquee star.

According to Andrew Zarian of the Wrestling Observer, that question was answered at least in part before Punk even departed. Seemingly, the company informed WBD late last week that the roster split would be coming to an end.

Why was CM Punk fired from AEW?

The decision to terminate Punk’s contract came following an investigation into the backstage incident at All In that saw him get into a physical altercation with Jack Perry.

Tony Khan explained in the press release that the decision was made in the best interests of everyone in the company.

In a video message at the beginning of the latest episode of Collision, Khan elaborated further, saying the incident endangered backstage staff and left him fearing for his own safety and even his life.
