“I’ve Had My Time In The Sun” – Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels won’t be getting back in the ring, at least according to the man himself.

Wrestling retirements are notoriously flimsy — Shawn Michaels has already broken one retirement — and this means that it’s very difficult to believe that a former star will never be back in the ring. However, this time, Michaels is adamant things will be different.

Not that there haven’t been offers. It was revealed back in March that Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, and Adam Cole have all tried to get HBK back inside the ropes.

During a recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Michaels was again asked whether he thought about getting back in the ring, but made it clear that he won’t be lacing up his boots any time soon.

“No, I absolutely don’t think about that at all anymore.. I’m so enamored and enjoy helping these young men and women come through ‘NXT,'” Michaels continued. “I’ve had my time in the sun. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it, but I so thoroughly enjoy being able to help them and allow them to have the same opportunities that I had.

This is about the generation of a Bron Breakker, Julius and Brutus Creed, Tiffany Stratton – we have a number of young men and women coming through ‘NXT’ who are going to be huge, huge superstars on the main roster. I don’t think anyone is going to be surprised if they see Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes headlining a WrestleMania someday in the very near future … that’s what I’m obviously focused on.”

When Did Shawn Michaels Last Wrestle?

Shawn Michaels originally retired in March 2010 after putting his career on the line against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. This came 12 years after he was forced into a four-year retirement thanks to a serious back injury.

In the years following WrestleMania 26, Michaels repeatedly batted away speculation that he would be back, but that all changed at Crown Jewel in 2018. At the event in Saudi Arabia, HBK teamed with Triple H to defeat The Undertaker and Kane. The match was universally panned and Michaels hasn’t returned to the ring since.
