When Glen Jacobs first appeared on WWE television back in June of 1995, it would have been impossible to predict that he would go on to become of the of the most iconic characters in WWE history. From his debut as Isaac Yankem to his journey making Kane one of the most recognisable wrestlers in the world, Jacobs has enjoyed a legendary career.

Following the news that he was set to be inducted into the 2021 class of the WWE Hall of Fame, Kane sat down with Sports Illustrated to explain just what his latest achievement meant.

“This is the greatest honor of my entire pro wrestling career. There have been so many people that helped me get here, and I can’t wait to say thanks to each of them. It’s a tremendous honor, one that I am still trying to process.”

The former WWE Champion went on to explain how his stubbornness helped him grow from being Isaac Yankem into having such a long and illustrious career.

“If you told me we’d be having this Hall of Fame discussion when I was Isaac Yankem, I never would have believed you,” Jacobs says. “There were tough times, and, early on in this journey, I was never a sure thing. But my stubbornness served me well. I’m extremely thankful for that, and I am so grateful for this career. I grew up on a farm in Missouri, and wrestling gave me an extraordinary life.”

The Mayor of Knox County later gave up what he feels is the secret to his longevity, the ability to reinvent himself.

“The secret to longevity in WWE is being able to reinvent yourself. I took so much pride in this profession, doing different things. Team Hell No with Daniel Bryan added an entirely new dimension to the Kane character. Who ever would have thought Kane could be comedic relief? A lot of that credit also goes to Bryan, who was an amazing partner. And I always took a lot of pride in showing my range as a performer.”

Kane is the fourth announced inductee for the 2021 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame. Molly Holly, Eric Bischoff were announced as the first inductees previously. The Great Khali has also been announced as entering the Hall Of Fame by WWE India.

The WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony will air on Tuesday, April 6th on Peacock and the WWE Network. The Class of 2021 will be inducted alongside the postponed Class of 2020.

Everybody at Inside The Ropes congratulates Kane for his richly-deserved induction into the WWE Hall Of Fame.
