Christian Cage Captures TNT Championship, First Defence Set For AEW WrestleDream

Christian Cage & Luchasaurus

Christian Cage is officially the TNT Champion for the first time.

In the opening match of the latest edition of Collision, Luchasaurus defended the TNT Championship in a Triple Threat match against his ally, Christian, and Darby Allin.

Cage exited the ring as soon as the bout started, intending for Luchausarus to take care of Allin by himself. However, Allin soon dragged Cage into the match by diving out to the floor onto him.

Cage and Luchasaurus then ganged up on Allin for much of the match, although the underdog gave it his best shot. Towards the end of the match, Luchasarus was distracted after grabbing the TNT Title belt for the first time since winning it, only for Christian to tell him to hand it over.

Allin used the momentary dissension to throw Cage into his partner and hit a Coffin Drop onto Luchasaurus. Before he could go for the pinfall, Cage threw him out of the ring and pinned the champion himself to officially win the title he had already claimed as his own for weeks.

Christian Cage will defend the TNT Championship at AEW WrestleDream

Later in the night, Cage cut a promo backstage “dedicating” his victory to Nick Wayne’s mother and late father, Buddy Wayne, who he was sure was cheering him on “from upstairs.”

His celebratory mood was soon soured, though, as Tony Schiavone informed him that he wasn’t done with Darby Allin just yet as he would be defending the title against the star on October 1st at WrestleDream in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls match.

While most people don’t have anything nice to say about Cage in 2023, one ex-WWE star has credited Christian Cage with saving his life.
