Matt Hardy Reveals He Made $300,000 During First TNA Run

Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy‘s first run with TNA was short-lived, but it was a really good deal for the AEW star.

Speaking on his “Extreme Life” podcast, Hardy covered that tumultuous time in his life where, along with his brother Jeff, signed with TNA in 2011. At the time, Hardy was struggling with substance abuse issues but did make his debut with the company in January 2011 where he was the surprise opponent for Rob Van Dam.

Hardy lasted about half the year before being suspended by the company and eventually released in August due to a DUI arrest. Hardy answered a fan question on the episode, noting that he signed a three-year deal at the time, but Hardy said the big incentive was the price tag and the amenities along with the contract.

“It was good. It was really good. It also allowed me to do outside things. It was a really good deal. I think it was around $300,000, and you could do stuff outside of wrestling as well. It was upwards of $300,000. It gained a little bit each year.”

Matt Hardy & His Brother Jeff Have Persevered Through Hard Times

Matt Hardy has been very open about his struggles with substance abuse and with help from his wife Reby, finally found himself on the right path of sobriety. Hardy re-signed with TNA back in 2014 and re-established himself as a star with his unprecedented “Broken” persona.

Now being with AEW for over three years, Hardy has been through several storylines but has ultimately found himself reunited with Jeff for another run as the Hardys.
