Dakota Kai Gives Recovery Update

Dakota Kai has let fans know when she aims to be back in action.

Kai is currently out with an injury due to suffering a torn ACL. Despite being sidelined, Kai did make a surprise appearance at SummerSlam to celebrate IYO SKY becoming the new WWE Women’s Champion following a successful Money in the Bank cash-in.

Speaking with The Run Home, Kai was asked how the rehab process is going. The Damage CTRL member responded by saying that although she is ahead of schedule, a return to the ring won’t be taking place for a few more months:

If we’re looking at an ACL, particularly my injury, it would be about eight to nine months. It happened end of May, so it will be January, maybe February. I’m feeling good. I’m ahead of schedule in terms of my recovery. It will still be a minimum of eight months. Looking to be early 2024,”

If all goes to plan, the return date is around the 2024 Royal Rumble, possibly a surprise return for the former Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Also during the interview, Dakota Kai was asked if she had spoken with WWE’s newest signee Jade Cargill while at the Performance Center. Kai stated that she had spoken with Cargill and is excited to see what happens next:

“I saw her today when I went to do rehab, said hello. I’m so happy that she is here. That is such a big move. It’s cool. Talent is talent wherever you are. It’s very cool to see that dream matches being created and with her coming over, it’s very much a good thing,”

When Did Dakota Kai Last Wrestle?

The ACL tear that put Kai out of action took place in May 2023. Damage CTRL looked to be Women’s Tag Team Champions once again as Kai and Bayley challenged Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the titles. The champions would retain the titles but be forced to vacate them just one week later when Liv Morgan also suffered a serious injury.
