It has been widely reported that CM Punk will make his return to AEW on the premiere episode of Collision on June 17th.
The show is set to come live from the United Center in Chicago, the venue where Punk made his AEW debut back in 2021. The news of Punk’s return coincided with talk that the roster would be split between Dynamite on Wednesdays and Collision on Saturdays.
There was a belief that The Elite and other roster members who had issues with Punk would feature on Dynamite while Punk and stars such as FTR and Chris Jericho (who Punk is reportedly in line to work with) will appear on Collision.
However, a new report has suggested that the roster split will be much more fluid.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the current idea will still see talent move between shows. Additionally, Punk will still feature on Dynamite when required. Although when he does, those with “unresolved issues” will appear on Collision.
“The updated plan, and this will possibly change a few times, is that there will be less of a hard roster split as previously told to people who do know about it. The thought is that the split will not be hard at all with the women as they don’t believe there is enough star power to do a hard split.
Punk will be the star of Collision most weeks, but he will be on Dynamite at times when needed. Those with unresolved issues with Punk would be on Collision the week he’s on Dynamite.”
Meltzer went on to say that AEW wants those involved to resolve their issues but this is yet to happen.

Prior to returning to AEW, CM Punk made surprise visits to both WWE and IMPACT Wrestling, with his appearance backstage at WWE Raw on April 24th causing a stir. Commenting on the visit, Eric Bischoff stated that Punk was a “desperate little b*tch” for attending a WWE show.
