Eric Bischoff Defends AEW Collision Ratings – “I Wouldn’t Worry Too Much If I Was Tony Khan”

Eric Bischoff believes there isn’t cause to panic over ratings for AEW Collision just yet.

AEW Collision’s ratings have taken a significant hit since the debut episode three weeks ago, averaging only 452,000 viewers for its third episode. However, former WCW President Eric Bischoff has come forward on “Strictly Business” to reassure AEW President Tony Khan that it’s not yet time to hit the panic button.

“I wouldn’t worry about it too much if I was Tony. It’s the Fourth of July weekend. There’s just not a lot of people sitting around watching television over the Fourth of July weekend, at least not as many as there normally are. That’s one factor. When I say I wouldn’t be concerned, I would be aware. I wouldn’t be panicking, it wouldn’t keep me up at night but I would definitely be aware because 452,000 viewers, that’s 45 percent of a drop from their initial episode only three weeks ago.”

While Bischoff acknowledges the significant decrease in viewership, he is reserving his judgment until this Saturday’s episode airs. If the ratings for this week’s Collision remain similar to those of the Fourth of July weekend, he believes there might be a problem. Additionally, Bischoff suggests that TNT should reassess its promotion strategy for Collision if the numbers continue to decline.

Eric Bischoff Admits AEW Collision Could Struggle

Looking ahead, Bischoff expresses concerns about the coming months, particularly when the college football season begins. He admits, “I don’t think it bodes well for the fall. What’s gonna happen with college football season?”

According to Bischoff, Tony Khan needs to keep the show “compelling and episodic” to build a dedicated fanbase that can support the show through the busy autumn schedule.
