AEW’s Wrestling Prodigy To Make Dynamite Debut

The July 5th edition of AEW Dynamite saw the announcement that one of professional wrestling’s most highly-touted rising stars will make their television debut on Wednesday, July 12th.

Toward the end of Dynamite, announcer Excalibur conducted his usual fast-paced run-through of upcoming matches and revealed that the rising star will make his debut on July 12th. The commentator announced that 17-year-old prodigy Nick Wayne will be taking on Swerve Strickland in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Nick Wayne To Make AEW Debut On July 12th Edition Of Dynamite

Wayne was astonishingly signed by Tony Khan last year when he was just 16 years old after making waves on the independent circuit.

He made his in-ring debut at just 12 years old back in 2018 before becoming a regular for Defy and more recently GCW. Wayne is a third-generation wrestler, being the son of the man who also trained him Buddy Wayne, and the grandson of Moondog Moretti who was a mainstay of Pacific Northwest Wrestling in the eighties.

Since making his in-ring debut he has appeared in promotions such as PROGRESS, DDT Pro, and Warrior Wrestling.

He is a former DEFY World Champion and currently the GCW Tag Team Champion with Jordan Oliver as The East West Express.

Other matches announced for the show will see Chris Jericho take on Komander in a first-time-ever outing, Ruby Soho goes against Skye Blue in a Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Semi-Final Match while the teams of Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy and
Adam Cole and MJF are in action in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Semi Finals.

Nick Wayne would open up about the “wave of emotions” surrounding his debut match months later.
