Roman Reigns Vs. Cody Rhodes Remains The “Long-Term Direction”

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes in the ring during WWE Raw

A WrestleMania rematch between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes is still very much on the cards according to a new report.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the clash is the long-term direction for the ultimate destination match. He noted that while WrestleMania 40 is a strong possibility, it’s too far out to be certain.

“As far as long-term goes, Reigns vs. Rhodes is the long-term direction for the ultimate destination match. WrestleMania is a strong possibility but this far out there are so many things that can happen.”

The news comes after it was reported that there had been talks backstage regarding a match between the American Nightmare and Gunther. It was noted that both men have expressed a desire to work together in the past and they’re seen as the top babyface and top heel on Raw.

Interestingly, a report claimed Cody Rhodes will be taking part in the men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match. This led many fans to wonder whether this could be used as a method to set up a second Rhodes vs. Reigns bout.
