Eric Bischoff Blasts CM Punk For “Burying” Hulk Hogan

It’s no secret that Eric Bischoff isn’t the biggest fan of CM Punk and his AEW run in particular.

The former WCW boss has been open with his critique of the star’s performances, while alleging that he made a very limited impact on AEW, failing to help the company grow.

Bischoff reiterated this stance in a recent appearance on the Going Broadway podcast. The WWE Hall of Famer said that he has no respect for Punk, mainly owing to comments he made about Hulk Hogan.

“I don’t have any respect for him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I never met the guy,”

Bischoff explained that his opinion of the star was formed during his time in AEW as he wasn’t watching WWE during his peak with the company.

“When he came out and the first thing he did was go for the cheap heat … by burying Hulk Hogan,” Bischoff said. “It’s like, ‘Wait a minute, dude. You never met Hulk Hogan; you’ve never worked with Hulk Hogan; you certainly don’t know Hulk Hogan; and you haven’t accomplished a fraction of a fraction of what Hulk Hogan has accomplished. So why are you burying him?'”

When a talent has to go to the low-hanging, ‘cheap heat’ fruit right out of the shoot, that tells me he doesn’t really have anything,” Bischoff said. “He exposed himself to me at that point. He exposed to me what he didn’t have.”

The veteran went on to dismiss Punk as a “really average talent.”

Eric Bischoff Also Critical Of Tony Khan

Bischoff has also criticised AEW boss Tony Khan for his handling of CM Punk, questioning why he was given such star treatment when he has failed to make a lasting positive impression. For much of 2022, Bischoff and Khan traded shots in interviews and on social media about AEW and his management, and this has continued in recent weeks with the former WCW President commenting that it was a “joke” Khan was named ‘Booker of the Year.’
